Information for Members of Saltley & District Credit Union

The Financial Services Authority approved the transfer of Saltley & District Credit Union to NBCCU from 1st October 2007.

NBCCU have contacted all existing Saltley & District members to update their membership records. If you have not heard from NBCCU then please contact us .

New numbers

Saltley & District membership numbers will be given a prefix to bring them in line with NBCCU membership numbers:

If you have a single figure membership number (e.g. 3) your new number will be begin 10300

If you have a two figure membership number (e.g 23) your new number will begin 1030

If you have a three figure membership number (e.g 923) your number will begin 103

Some frequently asked questions

What will happen to my shares (savings)?
Your savings/shares will be transferred £1 for £1 to North Birmingham Community Credit Union. For example, if you have £300 shares with Saltley & District Credit Union you will have £300 shares in NBCCU.

Will I be classed as a new member?
Members will be transferred to NBCCU with all existing rights. Therefore you will not have to wait 13 weeks before applying for a loan. If you have satisfactorily paid off a loan to Saltley & District Credit Union previously, you will have the same borrowing rights as existing NBCCU members.

What about my existing loan?
Your existing loan and the loan agreement will be transferred to NBCCU. NBCCU will expect you to maintain repayments according to the terms you have with Saltley & District Credit Union. If you are unable to repay your loan you will need to contact NBCCU. If you refuse to repay your loan, NBCCU will pursue the debt.

Where can I pay into the credit union?
The present collection points at Saltley Methodist Church and St Paul’s Crossover will continue for the foreseeable future. In addition you will be able to pay into your account at NBCCU’s head office 200 Sutton New Road, Erdington and at any of NBCCU’s collection points. A full list is here .

How do I get my money?
Loans and share withdrawals normally require seven days notice. On your application you will be asked to specify how you would like your money paid. There are a number of options including a cashable cheque for HSBC Bank at the Fox & Goose.


Will anything else change?
You will be issued with a new membership number. This will be you existing membership number with a three or four number prefix to distinguish your account from a possible NBCCU member with the same number.
